Morgeot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2017

Medium lemon yellow colour . Quite rich and ripe on the nose with buttered popcorn , lemon oil , toasty hints and some honeysuckle and peach . On the palate this is also quite rich , with lemon peel , apricot and but balanced by good acidity and a quite saline mineral , seashell tinged finish . Drinking well now and over the next 5-8 years. From a half bottle . — 9 months ago

J.L. Chave Sélection Hermitage Blanche Marsanne Roussanne 2016

Opened about 30 minutes prior to dinner but no decant. Served slightly chilled. The 2016 “Blanche” pours a deep straw color with medium viscosity. Developing with notes of ripe stone fruit, tropical fruit, nutmeg, white pepper, minerals and cotton candy. On the palate, the wine is dry with lower acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, the finish is medium+. This is a wine of impeccable texture to match the king crab legs with dinner. Drink now through 2031. — 8 months ago

@Shay A agree…huge value even though I wouldn’t categorize them as inexpensive by any means.

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Circa J.L. Chave Sélection Saint-Joseph Marsanne Roussanne

This 2022 is next level. Have had several Rhône whites recently and this is a standard bearer. So focused. About editing and restraint with subtle hints of this and that without hitting you over the with anything. Dominated by Rousanne which explains its elegance and subtlety. Has a honeyed fresh slightly poached apricot and apple combo with whiffs of baking spices. Great Lacey quartz structure. Beguiling.. perfect with scallops, acorn squash and rice pilaf — 10 months ago

Beautiful nose of lemon, beeswax, and white flowers. Lovely crisp acidity, minerality and bright citrus on the Palate. Long finish with great balance and hints of lemon and pear. The wine has deceptive power — 7 years ago

Domaine Pignard Beaujolais Gamay 2016

Light red and clear and clean. Nose has some muted floral and herbaceous notes but not much else. Light bodied , medium + acidity. Pretty much non distinct. This bottle was left over from Turkey dinner. Should have drank it then, perhaps.
