Elegant silky wine with a lengthy finish for such a young grand crú. Skeptical of the recommendation initially, this somm has never let me down with a youthful Burgundy. — 2 years ago
Not a 1er Cru, but it should be! Lovely Vosne. Velvet, sappy cherry fruit with Vosne spice. Hints of vanilla and stones. A whiff of oak char on the nose, but less so on the palate. Decanted for 2 hours prior to consumption. — 4 years ago
Beautiful herbs and red fruit, little bit of funk, classic. — 4 years ago
Saving this baby for a special occasion and it didn’t disappoint. Vibrant red fruits were in perfect balance with the earth flavors, acid, oak, and tannin. When I go to Burg this is what i want. Only critique is I wish I gave it just a couple more years in the bottle for tertiary flavors to develop. — 6 years ago
On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening to enjoy Andris Nelsons conducting the BSO in their first complete performance of Wagner's "Das Rheingold" at this venue, very exciting! We enjoyed "Die Walküre" last summer, so even though they're playing out of sequence, we're blessed to hear it none the less.
Tonight we have a Crémant de Bourgogne from Savigny-les-Beaune. Apparently 'Oeil de perdrix' translates as 'eye of the partridge' because of the light rose color of the wine. I get that, but sounds like marketing magic to me. Citrus, raspberry and mineral palate, toast and yeast are well balanced, tasty. — 8 years ago
Pop and pour. An enticing deep ruby red color. On the nose: brambly cherry, floral, cloves, touch of funky earth. Taste: dark cherry, cedar, minerals, planting soil, baking spice with just a little tannic kick. Nice solid Burg with a better score to come. — 10 months ago
@Delectable Wine this is Champs-Perdrix (spelling error). In any case, it is funky and yummy Marsannay. — 3 years ago
Perfect with duck but still needs some cellar time...perhaps 3 more years. — 7 years ago
Spot-on, classic, perfectly delineated Saint Joseph. This is the elegant and pretty side of Syrah. Flowing waves of violets and black pepper lift effortlessly out of the glass with bright red fruits. Mid palate is silk and nearly weightless with fine tannins. Low alcohol and neutral oak profile allow for a very pure expression. Hints of game on the finish with a lingering minerality and a fresh, spicy peppercorn character that would be lovely with a variety of meats and herbs. Beautiful wine that I look forward to revisiting over the next 2-3 years. — 7 years ago
