First candle lit dinner with Remi. JB and Ali got her down while Ali artfully cut and ate her steak with one hand. Also, the grill caught on fire, but JB saved the steaks at the perfect level of char. The spinach was delicious, and the dirt that Ali left on it from the farmers market will help tremendously with digestion. — 6 years ago
This was amazing. Prunes and. Vanilla. Cherries and dirt. Had with roast lamb. Beauty. Bought it at the chateau back in 2010 — 7 years ago
Stunning. The aromatic intensity of this wine is simply bonkers. Violets, clove, dusty barnyard dirt floor, old leather, garrigue, tar, vanilla, plums, cherry compote all baked into a blueberry pie. The mineral, spice and floral components of this wine are extremely intense, yet somehow perfect offset by and harmonized with bright whole cluster character. I was literally biting into this wine after it had been open for 2 days, yet there was no excessive weight. Despite the youth, massive structure and dense concentration of this bottling there is a sense of finesse and balance than only the finest producers can coax out of such a hot and explosive vintage. In a market becoming consumed by bombastic and heavily macerated wines from Châteauneuf, this reigns supreme for its superb freshness and complexity and reminds me of how special this place can be when the vines and their juice are handled with care and restraint. I believe this will grow up to become a simply impeccable wine. — 7 years ago
Velvety smooth. Dirt on the nose. Vibrant earthiness. — 8 years ago
Dark ruby, bright, doesn’t look it’s age. Awesome funky old Cal Cab nose. Notes of cherry, cranberry sauce, dirt and some balsa wood. Some steminess. Great perfume. Nice in the mouth but missing just a little bit in the mid palate. Really enjoyed this. — 6 years ago
Really trying to get into the LCS but it is a struggle! Enjoying this ‘05 that has plenty left, though it is the last of the six I acquired 10 years ago. Impressively dark in the glass with dirt on the nose. Glycerin, dark berries and a chewy, thick palate. Gripping tannins hang on through the finish. Wish I’d have waited until 2028! — 7 years ago
Love this wine. Dark fruit flavor and very smooth. Drink with or without food. — 7 years ago
I love this wine! Probably my favorite for so many reasons! Barnyard, mud, cow shit, and French oak on the nose. Tobacco, smoke, tar, and dirt on the palate. If I had to nitpick, the finish could be longer. I now agree with something I read in a book today. Your favorite wine doesn't have to be the one with your highest rating! — 7 years ago
Extremely ripe, with dirt and spice on the finish. Delicious. Black cherry on the finish. — 7 years ago
With a little decanting the fruit really shines. Such dirt and grit and old world thickness and mouthfeel. But all those black fruits dedicated. With figs and bay leaf and tarragon. A meal in itself. Just lovely. — 9 years ago
Funky, smoke and dirt. Like strawberry BBQ. — 6 years ago
This wine comes from their young vines according to Sophia Hawkins who does their sales & marketing. She also mentioned this vineyards’s soil structure is also the oldest recorded on the planet. Please note, “Recorded”.
The nose shows, freshness, opulence & has sex appeal. Fruits are; ripe, lush, slightly candied and quite floral. Mixed red & dark berries. Blackberries, dark cherries, blueberries, dark cherries and ripe juice strawberries. Red fruit liqueur & cola, vanilla, sweet, medium intensity, dark spice, tobacco with ash, dark, rich soils, soft alluvial soil with bright, red, dark, blue & violet florals.
The body is round, full lush and elegant. The firm, meaty, dark, tarry, chewy tannins. For vines so young, the fruit is amazingly ripe & delicious. The florals are straight up beautiful. Blackberries, dark cherries, blueberries, dark cherries and ripe juice strawberries. Red fruit liqueur & cola, vanilla, sweet, medium intensity, dark spice, herbaceous notes, tobacco with ash, dark, rich soils, soft alluvial soil, dark crushed rocks, dark penetrating minerals with bright, red, dark, blue & violet florals. The acidity is near perfect. The long finish starts; ripe, juicy and on the long set brings the dry stone minerals. While this drinks beautifully now, wait for even better things in five years. 92 now with a chance of a couple more points.
I really enjoyed their wines quite a lot. Both the noses and palates.

Post tapas in Vegas — good stuff — 7 years ago
A really lovely wine showing hints of eucalyptus, currants, wet dirt and moss. Over the course of a few hours the tannins calmed and the wine hit an elegant stride. I was surprised to see so much new oak which is my only criticism as it was a dominate feature through the entire bottle. Wish I had a more of this. — 7 years ago
A mild earthy, sanguine note, that is masked by sweet, big red brambly fruit with slight floral notes. Medium acid, good tannins. Cranberry, red apple skins with dirt and tar finish. — 7 years ago
Well done, matured beautifully and still needs time. Deep dark red, nose full of coffee, tobacco, cherries, cassis, dirt and cigar box, full body, rich, ripe, firm rich fruity tannins, good acidity, long chewy finish and a lasting smoky note. My score 91, drink to 2023 — 8 years ago

Just perfect. Light color, but lots of depth in flavor. Red berries and Central Otago dirt. Strong sense of terroir and place. Perfect balance. And so, so drinkable. — 6 years ago
