The Boy Grenache Syrah 2014

Wonderful 100% Washington State Grenache. Cherry, Earth, Black Pepper, Herbal aromas. Cherry, red currant and Vanilla flavors. Light color and body. Great summer red. So Fruit forward, it almost seems that it has a bit of sweetness. (But really bone dry) Hint of chocolate on the finish. Serve it a bit chilled! — 8 years ago

I actually heard of this through a wine shop we buy from in New York that ships to us called Grapes the Wine Company. The owner is Daniel Posner and has great stuff.

Wound up being the favorite during a blind tasting with a bunch of Napa Cab fanatics! Still could use some aging but it's a crowd pleaser for sure. — 10 years ago

Nose reveals, perfumed floral & spiced fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, black plum and hues of blue fruits. Black licorice, vanilla, pepper, both chocolates and violet & fresh dark florals. The body is M-M+ with M+ tannins. The fruits are ruby; blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, raspberries, black plum and hues of blue fruits. Black licorice, pepper, loamy soils, dry crushed rocks and fresh violets. The acidity is nicely rounded. The finish balances with 1/3 of each; fruit, earth and chocolate. Photos of; the view of the winery as you drive up, barrel tasting (15 & 16 fruit is very good) with our host Kai, a shot of their small production area and their tasting bar. — 8 years ago

Cayuse Vineyards

En Cerise Vineyard Syrah 2012

"The Stones hold the secret" Just sorta felt like a Cayuse kinda Friday. A 2012 En Cerise Vineyard—Literally translated, it means “cherry”—which is appropriate since the 10-acre vineyard planted in 1998 was a cherry orchard in its former life. A 4-hour decant, it exhibited none of the trademark Cayuse funk on the nose. I'm sure it blew off as a result of the lengthy decant, but I kinda missed it if I'm being honest. Cherry compote with some road tar on the finish. Velvety texture. Plush, layered with a good backbone. Nice finish. I'd say 9.4/10. I'm a fan of Christophe. This is Clos St Jean at a fraction of the price. Can't wait for "Hors Catagorie." Christophe, if you're listening, put me down for a case! — 8 years ago

Doubleback

Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

A fabulous surprise in a bottle from Walla Walla. My boyfriend bought this on a whim and we opened the first of the bottles tonight. Decanted for about an hour and..... What a delight of a cab! Gorgeous, deep color.... Luscious fruit on the nose... Topped only by a complex mouthful of blackberry, earth and a touch of spice. Took me a while to sip through my glass as the enjoyable finish lingered!!! 😊😊 — 9 years ago

Truth be told the GF found this in my cellar and in usual treasure trove fashion picked it out with no knowledge of what it was...looked it up in my records and said "wow you know how to pick'em"! As I checked cost and reviews...well I guess we both know how to pick them!

Syrah Cabernet Sauvignon am offshoot of reynvanne all walla walle fruit . A good bit if barnyard fresh earth and that animal game like note light smoke to the plum and cherry fruit. Sleight Of Hand Cellars

The Conjurer Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2015

Yup...that's Neil Patrick Harris on their Label. Sleight of Hand Cellars got involved in a charity that NPH was apart. They got to talking and found he not only had a love of Magic, but wine as well. The relationship evolved well enough, they asked him if he would be on one of their labels and Neil agreed. The "Sleight of Hand Cellars" label has been seen a few times on "How I Met Your Mother." NPH is also is a club member. The Conjurer is blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot and a splash of Petit Verdot from the Columbia Valley. Nice, fresh nose of; ripe dark currants, blackberries, black plum, dark cherries, black raspberries, black licorice, dark chocolate, soft spice, wood shavings and fresh dark florals. The palate is M+ body & soft M+ tannins with a thick, round mouthfeel. Dark spice, eucalyptus, mint, herb notes, cinnamon, vanilla, clove, chocolate, caramel apple, black licorice, crushed rocks, soft leather, nice, round, acidity and a very well polish finish. This is very easy to drink young and will cellar 10 years. — 8 years ago

Dusted Valley Vintners

Tall Tales Syrah

Tall Tales Syrah, its utterly unique "funk" from the deep, cobblestone soil of the Rocks at Milton-Freewater, shines so bright with savory food. Its earth and mineral qualities, contrasted beautifully by plum and currant, with a hint of black pepper, really give just the right oomph to make this wine the perfect partner for a meal (in my case, pesto soup, with a side of heavily herbed garlic-cauliflower) — 9 years ago
