In the glass, the wine has a glistening, dark royal purple color, almost black in the center, with flashes of magenta just at the edge. The classic Right Bank nose unfurls gradually with aromas of sun-warmed black raspberries, griotte cherries, and sweet white tobacco moving in and out of the foreground, sometimes alternating with Dutch cocoa, eucalyptus, and vanilla as the wine evolves in the glass.
On entry, the wine is luscious and succulent, building to a rich, juicy mid-palate, with a cornucopia of black and red fruit flavors that echo the nose, all lightly seasoned with toasted coconut, baker’s chocolate, and red berry acidity, and the long, elegant finish is punctuated with sinuous, fine-grained, dusty tannins. Tasted blind. Reddish tawny color. Edges suggest its old. Notes of strawberry, raspberry, iron, roses. Some zing and power in the nose. Slaps your face when tasted. Sappy. Powerful impact. Long finish. Other guesses were in Burgundy land eg Griotte but I went with 90 Rayas. Bingo. — 6 years ago
1990 DRC Richebourg. Lunch at Tap while DS was visiting. Drank this side by side to the 1985 Griotte-Chambertin. Hard to pick a fave- they were very different. This one had much more fruit and texture to it and I might have favored it slightly. — 7 years ago
Very good Bordeaux, but the notes by Moore Bros were the most accurate I've ever come across. "...complex, exotic aromas that open with griotte cherries, ripe cassis, fresh fennel, crushed violets, and sweet herbs; adding dried figs, dark cocoa, and flecks of pencil shavings as the nose evolves...". Well, I missed the figs but otherwise, yes! And in that order. Remarkable. — 9 years ago
Beaujolais pleasure with the intensity usually found on Saint-Amour. Notes of sour cherry red fruits, rose, peony, and a certain concentration that will appeal to those who like more structured wines. It is nonetheless a generous wine with immediate pleasure. Very / too easy to drink
Très/trop facile à boire — 5 years ago

— 5 years ago
Tasted blind. Dark murky red color. Notes of cherries... black cherries, tart cherries, lotsa cherries. Some cranberries and a little herbalness too. Masculine and brooding in the mouth. Seems really big, with tannins still present and lots of acidity. I guessed 95 Dugat Griotte. This needs another decade or two of slumber to develop more. Brought by a friend who said this was the first bottle he pulled from a case he bought on release. I hope to remain his friend. — 6 years ago

Jean-Paul Brun continues to deliver high quality wines to us. Here a fleshy yet crunchy Morgon (morello cherry) drunk on New Year's Eve and appreciated by all the guests.
— 5 years ago

Always a pleasure to taste the wines of JP Brun. This purple-colored Moulin-à-Vent delivers magnificent airy notes of undergrowth, ash, accompanied by a floral burst of dry roses / peonies; Morello cherry, blackberries. The mouth is very fine. silky tannins testify to a great mastery of winemaking. 2017 vintage begins to « pinote » wonderfully and will win again with a few years in the cellar (for those who enjoy Burdundy style). Reference!
— 5 years ago
Cerise griotte
Très bon — 6 years ago
From magnum. Had it next to the stylistically similar Fourrier Gevrey VV, but this was the better wine for me - it had a little more depth and texture. Started of similarly reductive, but quickly opened up to scents of roses, intense red cherry, and smoky insence. The palate's velvety, mix of red and dark fruits, rich but offers lots of freshness with its crisp acidity. Minerality plays second fiddle at the moment, but is evident in the long spicy finish. I bet this was how it looked like when it was first bottled, so time can only make it better. 1er level for sure!
NB: From WH - This plot is located on the southern side of Griotte-Chambertin alongside the Claude Dugat plot and below the Duroché plot of Griottes-Chambertin. It is quite strange that this vineyard has been classified as village as it’s located so close to the Grand Crus. — 6 years ago

The Château Brûlesécaille 2016 is comprised of 55% Merlot and a little under 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, with Cabernet Franc and Malbec making up the balance. In the glass, the wine has a glistening dark royal purple color, almost opaque at the center, with flashes of magenta just at the edge. The classic Right Bank nose unfurls gradually with aromas of sun-warmed black raspberries, griotte cherries, and sweet white tobacco, along with fleeting suggestions of eucalyptus and exotic spices as the wine evolves in the glass. On entry, the wine is meaty and succulent, building to a burly, lingering, rich mid-palate, loaded with a cornucopia of black and red fruit flavors that echo the nose; lightly seasoned with pine needles, toasted coconut, and baker’s chocolate – all framed in sinuous, assertive, ripe fine-grained tannins. Almost California-like in concentration and texture, with dusty minerality and fresh Right Bank acidity that carries the flavors through a long, elegant finish.
