Had a bottle of this 2 years ago after it scooped the pool at the Royal Brisbane Wine Show. I can’t see why it got the accolades - an excellent Pinot Noir no doubt but not Champion Red of the Show. Colour of mid crimson with dark cherry. Initially on opening some oaky varnishy notes with stalkiness. On palate good intensity where the savouriness presides over the fruit dry cherry flavours. Loved it! Willi’s is a famous champion of Rhône wines in Paris. Fresh, lively berry and earth notes. Soft tannins, drinkable now but probably with develop a bit more. Fun. — 8 years ago
