The stage was set. Pontet Canet in the left corner, Leonetti reserve in the right corner. Leonetti came in strong, intense, rich, powerful with strong dry blue berry, dark cherry fruit and a well integrated tannins with hints of oak and tobacco. Broad on the pallet, all in. Who won? Almost too close to call. Such different style. Broad and bold verse intense and deep. Check the ratings! — 7 years ago

I’m a sucker for barton. Family liked the pontet canet better but this st julien was delicious. Black currant, leather, mineral - classic Bordeaux. If you want a producer well priced and built to age this is it. — 8 years ago
World's End is the Napa project of Jonathan Maltus. He's better known for his work on the Right Bank of Bordeaux as the owner of Château Teyssier and creating Le Dôme. The 2013 Against The Wind was sufficiently beaten up by more than one critic, but I was still surprised when I fished it out of a discount bin for $9... he's made a wine that Robert Parker scored 100... I think I'll take the risk... Juicy plum with blueberry are the focus, followed by some Hershey's cocoa powder and roasted red pepper, with some tertiary molasses and dried violet. — 9 years ago

Love this wine. Great energy and transparency. Lots going on with white truffle, iodine, blackberry and some blood orange. Vibrant palate. In a great spot now. — 7 years ago

Started out all berries and shaved chocolate and opened up beautifully....then really clamped down a bit after a couple hours...killer wine just starting to show some age notes but leave it alone still....really nice next to the 2004 Pontet Canet. — 10 years ago

Pity about the nose, it’s quite corked but this has not affected the wine, wonderful fruit, great balance between tannin and acid, lovely structure. — 8 years ago

Rounded out very nicely on day two. I would say that the remaining bottles would peak in two to three years. Not the most complicated wine but a pleasure to drink nevertheless — 6 years ago
