Château Lestage

Cru Bourgeois Listrac-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Lestage 2010, a bit of aging on it. Nicely integrated now. Tar, cedar and black currant on the nose. A nice meat juice and truffle note is lurking in the back. The palate is not the broadest or the most impressive but shines with its acid drive, its nice peppery notes, its bright black currant touch and its polished tannins that are now well integrated. There is a nice bitter note blossoming over a finish that sports some black currant and peppery touches. It's a good wine and it has still some time ahead, it's still has a young wine profile. We paired with duck confit and cooked apple, a great pairing. — 4 months ago

Cru Bourgeois Moulis en Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

2016 vintage. Owned by the Chanfreau family (also Lestage and Fonréaud in Listrac). A blend of Merlot (65%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (35%). Still a bit on the oaky side, but the wine handles it well. The red fruit is juicy and fresh, the tannins ripe and the wine has elegance. Wait a few years until it fully absorbs the oak or decant if you drink it now. — 4 years ago

Cuvee Egastel Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Aromas of black currant, crushed stone and baking spices. Highly concentrated black/blue fruit flavors with a touch of tar, vanilla and tobacco. Medium plus body and gripping tannins. Nice balance. Still tastes young and fresh. This one can age for quite a while. — 2 years ago

Listrac-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

2019 vintage. Another great value from this Listrac estate. Dark red. Black fruit, less oaky compared to the 2018. Good concentration, a more extracted style compared to fellow Cru Bourgeois Supérieur Lilian Ladouys 2019 (Saint-Estephe) tasted alongside, but excellent value at 11(!) euros. — 3 years ago

Saint Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

2019 vintage. After the excellent Cabernet Sauvignon dominated 2018, this 2019 is predominantly Merlot (59%), with 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. Less colour compared to fellow Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel Château Lestage (Listrac) tasted alongside, indicating more gentle extractions. Delightfully floral nose with bright red fruit and very discrete oak. Medium-bodied, fresh and energetic, with a serious tannic backbone, but smooth and elegant with very good mineral length. The Lorenzetti family is doing a great job here, and they just bought neighbouring Grand Cru Classé Lafon-Rochet, an exciting extension of their portfolio that already includes Pédesclaux (Pauillac) and co-owned Issan (Margaux). Terrific value too. — 3 years ago

Listrac Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Oaky and blackberry taste. I don't drink a lot of French wine, and I thought I try some. This one was pretty good for the price. — 3 years ago
