This wine is deep and dark. The inky indigo color telegraphs the nose, exploding with blue and black berries and cassis, a whiff of campfire smoke and a mountain of prehistoric terroir. The palate is laden with dark fruit, too, not to mention spice and earth. The sage and rosemary linger into a finish that won't let you forget them. The tannic structure is fit for meat and aging while the acidity refreshes and causes the mouth to water. Beautiful work, Mike Sinor. — 10 years ago
I hope this finally cures the vicious cold I've had... — 11 years ago
This bottle put me over the top on Catena Alta Malbec. In any decent year, as this one, beautifully extracted fruit under a dusty/earthy nose that screams its origin. Liquorice, blackberry, tobacco and neat acidity. An orchestra of cocoa to coffee. I'd serve this food-friendly beauty - they seem to hit a threshold at 4-5 years, longer for the single vineyard efforts - to my most wine-snobby guests. There may not be a better value in New World wine, which causes an issue only for Catena Zapata, who may have a hard time selling >$100 offerings when this can be had for <$40! — 10 years ago
I love this wine!!! Never disappoints!! It's got a hint of pepper, not overly tannic, spicy, deep gorgeous color!!! Sweet but not overly sweet - it cures what ails us!! — 11 years ago
Great nose and bold first taste, but it's age causes it to fade fast and lose power. That being said, a Jose Bautista homer in the 10th for a 2-1 Jays victory over the Yanks makes up for it! Yeah, that was meant for you my friend and unfortunate Yankee fan, Mike Walker!! — 10 years ago
Beautiful Floral Pinot- acidity that causes quite a pucker, yet this will soften over time. We'll stash it in the cellar for a while and report back ! — 11 years ago

Yellow gold. Big nose of honeysuckle, peach. Flavors of white fruit esp. peach.Opulent mouth feel and long finish. Needs a little acid for balance. Alcohol 14.1%. Fun to drink but causes a bit of palate fatigue with its size. — 10 years ago
