Happy Birthday Neal! Drank next to the 2014 Cade. More expressive nose than the former and the lightness carries through to the palate. That being said, it lacks the concentration of the Cade and seems a touch shallow in comparison. They call this baby PlumpJack...whatever. Fun to try them back to back. Better value than the Cade. — 8 years ago

Winemaker Tony Biagi (Cade / Plumpjack) and California wine distributor Kimberly Jones' joint venture. You can taste the greatness to come in this one! A bit firm now, so give it time. 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot. Aged in 100% new French oak. — 9 years ago

On 2.11.2019 at 10:02pm my son, Austin Cade, entered into this world. I think it only fitting to (finally) celebrate with some bubbles that were gifted to me and my wife by some dear friends for the occasion.
.
Copper, orange peel, citrus zest, and yeast. Nice mouthful with good body, but not overly heavy or generous. This can handle some stout food. — 7 years ago

On the nose; bright, ripe, perfume floral, stewed fruits of; boysenberries, plums, blackberries, black raspberries, dark chard cherries, mocha, caramel, hints of vanilla, anise, light spice, lavender, lilacs and violets. The palate is; rich, ripe and sexy. The tannins nearly completely resolved. It’s deliciously gorgeous. The fruits are; ripe, rich, bright and slightly dark on the palate. It’s in a lavish place. Loads of blue fruits, blackberries, dark cherries, plum, black raspberries & raspberry jam with just the right amount of floral tones. Dark chocolate, mocha, caramel, clove, nutmeg, anise, a touch herbaceous, eucalyptus, dry crushed rocks, rich, black earth, dusty slightly tarry tannins, stones, used leather, touch of graphite, tobacco with ash, lavender, lilacs, lavender, acidity that runs like a waterfall over the palate, a long, beautiful, rich, ripe, well balanced with very good length and structure after 13 years in bottle. The 02 still has another 5-7 years of good drinking ahead. Owned by the Plumpjack Group/Cade since late 2016; which sits just the other side of the hill from Ladera. We’ll see how and if the style evolves. Photos of; their beautiful Estate property, grand private tasting and vineyard. One additional photo showing one of the reasons Howell Mountain is so great. It sits above the fog line allowing for more sun and easier ripping of fruit. — 8 years ago

Beautiful Howell Mtn Cab. I'm a fan of Ladera and Cade so why not Hall. Very drinkable now but I'll let the rest of the case age a bit. — 9 years ago
This Spanish Rioja is just as good as the CADE cab I just had and is less than half the price, therefore it gets a perfect score. The difference is the rioja is a tad bit sweeter in the beginning and possesses less tannins in the finish. It also has a little more buttery middle. Second best cab I've had behind 2012 Cade Reserve. Amazing flawless balance--velvety chewy tannins, mellow fruit, dirt/rust in perfect harmony. — 7 years ago
Side by side with Cade. Both nice wines. Good matchup. Enjoyed with squash ravioli. — 8 years ago
Amazing. Have had a lot of good wine lately, put this against 2014 Dunn Napa, 2008 Far Niente--this shines versus those. Amazing balance--beautiful and unique plum/blueberry fruit and in a subdued manner but one that balances with the well structured nature. Only recent wine that can compete with this is the 2012 Cade Reserve but this will be there in a couple years. — 8 years ago
Very enjoyable — 9 years ago
I could smell this one for days - spice box, toasted oak, blueberry, wet slate/minerals, and huckleberries. Very unique and incredibly silky smooth for a 2012. Purple cork always excites me especially from Howell. Thanks for the recommendation @Carl Fischer @Shay Aldriedge . Had a curve ball thrown at me - only 2011s on the menu. Almost went with the 09 Cade but asked if other bottles and vintages in stock - scored a 2012! Superb!! But from your night @Carl Fischer 2011 would have been just fine! Enjoyed after Straight No Chaser 🎅🏻🎄🎁 and vaguely remember @Daryl Calhoun mentioning his acappella days - ha! #chriscarpenterisgod — 9 years ago

Best expression of the grape I have tried, tasted it along side Cade Sauvignon Blanc and Frank Family Chardonnay, although very different varietals, the Fiano sang like a fiddle, beautiful and simple. — 10 years ago
