Pretty good. — 7 years ago
Delicious. Opens up beautifully in decanter for 30-60 minutes. Dark fruits, full bodied on the mid-palate with a delightful finish that is balanced and smooth but still tannic. Paired with aged cote de boeuf. What an incredible dinner paired with the perfect wine. Burgess wines can certainly age in the bottle, so we plan to buy another and lay it down for 10 years. — 7 years ago
I pulled into the driveway of this winery in Napa a few years back on a lark. A few days ago, I saw this bottle at Bondi in Bed Stuy and bought it remembering the excellent tasting that knocked more famous wineries low. Burgess is cut into a hillside on Howell Mountain and is one of the older privately owned wineries in Napa. This bottle is ready to drink. Blackberry, espresso, and herbaceous notes of anise and mint. Full-bodied and a steal at the $21 I paid for it. — 8 years ago
Incredible - could it really be this old? It sure didn't taste it. — 11 years ago
Very smooth Malbec. — 7 years ago
Are you kidding me?! Got this at the winery a few years ago. It's unreal how youthful this is. The color has faded to that of a dark Pinot, but very little bricking. Earthy notes, followed by fresh and decayed red fruits, there are still intense tannins that are so well integrated into the wine that it last on the palate for what seems to be hours. Birth year spectacular. #birthyear — 8 years ago
Really improving in bottle. Excited to see where this goes. — 9 years ago
I've never had a Malbec from California. Dusty black berry, leather, black pepper. Grippy, but softened up after a 75 minute decant. Could probably age a couple years. — 9 years ago

Very young wine that needed much more air/decanting. Nose was tight and hit the palate hard. With time it slowly mellowed out and became quite nice, with cherry and tar flavors. I would say the last glass or so was similar to the 2012 Burgess Cab we had prior, but not as fruitful or smooth. Lay this guy down for 3-5yrs or decant for twice as long as you think you need to. — 7 years ago
