Surprised at how tertiary this was, the cork looked perfect. Dark, savory and damp with musky fruit. Happy to enjoy this, even if I wish for more freshness and verve. — 7 years ago

Falletto Barolo Nebbiolo 2004

What a bottle. It evolved over the 2-3 hours it lasted and if I had my way it would have lasted 30 minutes! Opened with more leather tones then a more nutty flavor with light fruit throughout. Very silky but hard to go wrong with giacosa. Easily last another 10-15 years. Great bottle! — 9 years ago

17•+ remarkably young colour. Good nose, though not v complex. Same on palate - v good fruit, elegant but not as interesting as I’d expected. Maybe decant next bottle. — 6 years ago

Mid to light bodied with the classic tar and roses you'd expect from Nebbiolo but in the most accessible way possible. Very drinkable. — 7 years ago

Reminded more of corton than anything else. Big, rich and full while having tension that comes out with air. A seriously impressive bottles of wine. This is the blanc — 8 years ago

Gallina di Neive Barbaresco Nebbiolo 1990

Nice looking bottle, TS fill. Brought to Grasings in Carmel, opened/decanted 4 hrs before. Reddish tawny, doesn’t look it’s age. Wow nose. Exotic, attention grabbing. Notes of tea, rose petals, black fruit, some licorice and a little menthol. Ethereal in the mouth. Needed 5+ hrs to show its stuff. Had the staff standing in line for some shared pours. Great showing. At peak but bottles like this one are going to deliver pleasure for another 10 years easily. — 7 years ago

Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

An excellent medium bodied Cabernet, this wine is rich in creamy tannins but not so much as to be “liquid bread “. It has very pleasant, yet restrained, Bing cherry and red currant flavors. The oak is also applied with a subtle hand. Overall, this is an impressive offering, which should evolve nicely over a couple of years’ lying down. — 8 years ago
