It is fantastic having such good neighbors. Soma produced by Marita's Vineyards is her fathers winery which produces limited productions and bottle ages much longer than most other Napa wineries. Earth, cedar, eucalyptus, dark cherry, black currants, with a long finish. A classic premium Napa Cab Sauv. — 9 years ago
Small productions are so good. So much soul! Still has a long life ahead of it but totally drinkable and enjoyable now. Tannic still hitting but obviously getting softer. — 9 years ago
Absolutely recommend seeing out this wine. Seldom lay do I completely sign onto a producers style and regardless of vintage purchase the wines. This would be one of those productions #biodynamic — 10 years ago
Very nice expression of Viognier.
Clean honey on the nose almost exclusively. Well balanced with nice mouth feel. Actually good with charcuterie — 10 years ago
Great Grenache, on the lighter side as you'd expect. — 11 years ago
Wonderfully light and fresh, but still with a good bit of stuffing. I liked how peppery this was, and the fruit was nicely high-toned. — 12 years ago
Big, Cali Rhone Blend. Delicious. — 8 years ago
Pineapple and crazy apricot! Beautiful nose, a tad light. Light to medium acid. — 9 years ago

#Franciacorta #Satèn #CasaCaterina
V.S.Q. Brut Crémant #BlancdeBlancs #1999
Bottle n•857/1000
#Disgorgement2010
One of the few companies in Franciacorta which boasts the #Guyot system. Very limited productions, bottles for sale no earlier than 10 years after harvest. Wines produced only when the vintages are considered "live".
Started to open after some time in the glass, oxidative layers, delicate mousse, shows up a medicinal background, good stuff.

Red berries and pepper on the nose. Thick bodied and a long, dry finish. Needs some time to decant. Great with spicy, salty food. — 12 years ago
Really nice. — 8 years ago
One of my favorites for past 10 years. I'm afraid new ownership could effects future productions we have wait and see. — 9 years ago
Tastes like cola with herbal tea in a really nice way. Some light fruit a ton of acidity. Was hoping to like it a little more. — 9 years ago
What a special red from Ribeiro, the top of Luis Anxo shows Arnoia terroi potential and elegance. Small productions (up to 5000) in this handcraft winery promise a high level wines absolutely unique in its style. One of my favorites ever!!! — 9 years ago
Our spirits buyer David just returned from Oaxaca preaching the parallels between Mezcal & Burgundy: tiny productions, individuality and synergy with food. I had my doubts. This will be the first spirit to go in my wine journal in over a decade- our homemade tacos made the spirit come alive with soulful, smoky complexity... And I thought anything over 14% was a disaster with food! — 10 years ago
Very pleasant boutique bottling from a superior vintage featuring a texture of black pepper, black tea, savory and dark cherry. Purchased for low $20s, this producer does small productions beside selling fruits to leading Mendocino producers. Low level of tannin would make this a an easy choice for by-the-glass and for many Pinot fans — 11 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
One of Kosta's bigger productions at 665 cases, this wine has a lot of complexity. Aged for 16 months in French oak (40% new). Deep red with ripe fruit and fresh floral aromas. On the palate the wine is a bit more timid with soft fruit flavors of cherry and currants and gentle spices mixing nicely together. Well balanced with vivid acidity, and woody notes on the lingering finish ending with a little tannic punch. Tasting Sample. — 8 years ago
