Fresh and aromatic blend of indigenous varieties Brancellao, Ferrol, Caiño Longo and Caiño from multiple terraced micro-vineyards - locally known as socalcos- planted on the steep, granite soils in Arnoia (Ourense). steep, granitic hillsides of Arnoia. Red fruit, some spicy notes. — 6 years ago
Definite gaminess-- like medium-rare venison. Canned Thanksgiving cranberry jellly-- like the stuff that takes the shape of the can. Ripe strawberry. Wild herbs and field of grains. Rose petals. Beef jerky. Tomato leaf. Red licorice. Bit of sweet tobacco. No doubt this is a complex wine.
This is the type of wine that right when I open and taste I think, "this is going to be absolutely delicious and layered in like two days if I leave it". And it's even gorgeous after like 20min in the glass.
Med/med+ gritty tannin, medium acidity, medium + body. Very Ruby red with clear rim. Lot of staining. Has a big feel, but it's somehow still light and refreshing.
Honestly, it's a lot bigger than I thought it would be for a Rias Biaxas Tinto. Feels so Rhone Grenache to me. This nose is so beautiful though... 91.5 — 7 years ago
2015. This is a wine for the geek and non-geek alike. A blend of brancellao, caiño, and ferrol (go ahead, look them up. I’ll wait) it offers sour cherry flavors and a hint of fresh herbs wrapped up in a blanket of minerality and crisp acids that are just irresistible. Juicy with light yet puckering tannins. A fun treat to be sure. Great tonight with grilled tri tip. Only 12% abv. $19. (The number score is an error in that I rarely give them. I fat fingered something and now I have to leave a score.) — 7 years ago

Capa y densidad baja, en nariz buena potencia, caldo de pollo, flores blancas, manzanilla y frutas rojas poco maduras. En boca ágil agradable y con final amargo pero agradable. — 9 years ago
Från Telmo Rodriguez omplanterade vingård i Valdeorras. Galicisk field blend med mencía som huvudroll. Levande vin i lätt rustik stil. Många smaklager av mörka bär, vilda rosor, örter och lite grön paprika. Fin utveckling i glaset. — 5 years ago

Bloody nose iron ore. Vivacious with mouth drying minerality; reminds a little of volcanic island wine. — 8 years ago
Luis' top red cuvée from his oldest vines of Brancellao, Caiño Redondo, Caiño Longo and Ferrol. Unlike the "regular" A Torna Dos Pasas, the Escolma is aged in new and used French barriques for 1yr and bottle-aged for another 3 years.
Red and black tart berry fruit, backbone of fine tannins and Atlantic/granite minerality.

Destinos Cruzados was another winery that I tasted the whole gamut at the Peñín Best of Spain show and was unimpressed by, there has been some press and some mentions of this winery and I expected more and cleaner wines than I found. This wine seemed like it was the inexpensive wine of the winery and it turns out it wasn’t so inexpensive after all. All in all good quality and an interesting blend of native varieties. — 4 years ago
