2013 vintage. Decanted and tasted immediately and after 30 mins. Reticent nose. Medium-heavy body. Massive flavors and structure. Wouldn’t open it any time soon. Phenomenal now but so so intense. If you can Potsie it for a decade plus, do so. Another reminder as to why Barolo is the wine of kings. 11.01.24. — 8 months ago
2020, very good — 3 years ago
Goes really well with sesame chicken and noodles. Would probably go well with many chicken dishes. Light, not tannic/acidic. — 4 years ago
Really nice. — 6 years ago
100% negroamaro (worth it for the 1001 wines to try before you die list) — 6 years ago
2022 vintage. Tasted with the winemaker. Excellent punch, richness and drinkability. Medium-medium heavy body with a sustained fruity finish. $29 resto cost a bottle. Woulda picked up the last two cases available but recently committed to a few cases of another Barbera d'Alba that showed just as well. If I come across this on a resto list, I'll hit it. 02.07.25. — 5 months ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2022 pours, a deep, ruby/purple color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with a mix of tart and ripe, mostly black with some blue fruits: black berries, plums, black licorice, Alpine herbs and purple flowers and dried earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium- tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finishes medium. Overall, this is an impressive Dogliani and I’d gladly take more of this in my life. Drink now. — 8 months ago
Great spiced fruit aromas- like a pot of cherries stewing in mulling spices. Good balance. Also carries that pheromone odor that I pick up in many good Italian wines. — 3 years ago
Came across a little flat even after 2.5 hour decant — 4 years ago
The 2016 Barbaresco is fabulous. Rich, ample and inviting, with terrific depth, the 2016 opens up beautifully in the glass. Sweet cherry, licorice, mint, rose petal, spice and new leather flesh out effortlessly. More than anything, though, I admire the wine's persistence and overall balance. The 2016 is the finest Barbaresco I have tasted yet from Francesco Versio. This is such a pretty wine. Compared with previous vintages, the 2016 offers more finesse and a more transparent expression of Nebbiolo than I have seen in the past. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, November 2019) — 6 years ago

Nice and light everyday wine — 6 months ago
Delicious, not too acidic, shockingly yellow — 7 months ago
Interesting to taste. It reminds of some PiWi varieties. Less pleasant to drink and to enjoy. — 8 months ago
Really a lovely langhe nebbiolo from a producer we respect deeply after walking the Bricco Boschis with him a couple years ago. Decanted for 3 hours which I definitely recommend at this time. A bit unresolved still in terms of tannins. But deeply aromatic with great dark fruit and acid. Probably a better pairing with a cut of meat vs pizza. Delicious. — 4 years ago
Amazing natural sparkling red — 5 years ago
Nice drinking wine. Dry start. Fruity finish. — 6 years ago
Last one; still very solid to go with fabulous pizzoccheri on a cold winter night. — 6 years ago

2020 vintage. Tasted with the winemaker. The "safe spot" in the current lineup. Verry approachable vintage for Barolo and this effort comes the closest to upholding usual expectations. Medium body. Some earth/dirt. Fruit apparent but not nearly the oodles cascading over the infinity juice pool as from this producer's 2020 Cannubi or Mosconi efforts. Structure solidly in place. Delicious. $80 resto cost. 02.07.25. — 5 months ago
