The wines of Tenerife rarely fail to impress me, and thus one is no exception. Thick and unctuous, but bone dry with ask and straw notes. — 9 years ago
Great wine, pepper, mineral soil, listan negro Tenerife Spain — 9 years ago
Orange style Listán blanco out of Tacoronte in Tenerife. Essentially the least invasive, most minimally manipulated wine in the entire portfolio. Lightly minty, a little bit of tea, and lots of bruised fruit. A curiosity but a revelation. — 10 years ago

#listannegro #tenerife #suertedemarques #candio #spanishwines Hazy (not filtered) medium+ garnet, pronounced intensity aromas musk, sweat, geranium, resin and chimney ash along with bright fresh cherries and red currant or cranberry jam. Dry, medium+ acidity, medium smooth tannins and medium + alcohol. Medium+ body pronounced intensity flavors of cranberry, cedar chest, ash and cider. The finish is medium + and the wine can easily age for the next 3-5 years. Very good quality. Perhaps overpriced. Points for being original. Much better on the palate than in the nose. — 9 years ago
This Tenerife red was sensational. Volcanic as you would expect with bright raspberry white pepper and soft ripe tannins. Could drink this all summer!!! — 9 years ago
80 year old vines from top tenerife producer El Penitente. Floral, aniseed on the nose . Floral ,citrus finish . Fresh . Very good — 10 years ago
Fino style of Palomino from the Canary Islands, Tenerife. And terrific. Saline, nutty, nose of just roasted buttered popcorn, good acid towing it along. — 10 years ago

The grape listán negro from Tenerife is a first for me. The nose shows too much sulphur unfortunately but lurking behind are red ripe cherries, raspberries, and dry black currants; on the palate is a rigid structure of acids, smooth tannins and medium-high alcohol that carry well the fruit, light oak, liquorice, and herbs into a delightful finish where the initial sulphur is forgotten and forgiven. — 8 years ago
