One of my Top2 was Giuseppe Rinaldis "Brunate". 80% fruit from "Brunate" and 20% from "Le Coste". Of course in a state where it is not delivering all of it's power, but it was still so good with an inner harmony of Brunate fruit, happy tannins and some balsamic notes. This is Brunate to me, even though Beppe might say "it's not austere enough". — 8 years ago

Day 1 was tight as a fish's arse. Tannin, acid and more tannin. There were some pretty floral aromatics but it was really austere in the mouth and not all that enjoyable. I drank half of it anyway.
Day 2 is a different wine. The pretty florals have gone and are now richer strawberry and chocolate aromas, menthol and some faint spice. Then darker fruits, terracotta, spicy cedar. Finishes long, puckering and quite moreish. Acid sticks out a little but the potential is clear. This needs a real good decant or at least another 5 years. — 9 years ago

This is another recommendation from Matt Tornabene from MWC in NYC. Really great Nebbiolo with crushed rock, lavender, spices, very floral and with medium length and perfect polished finishing. If you know Beppe Rinaldi then this is a go to wine for a fraction of the price of its Barolos, otherwise great introduction to Piemonte wines. Enthusiastically recommended ! — 8 years ago
An amazing expression of Dolcetto d'Alba. Beppe and Simonetta are the owner of this wonderful Estate located in Dogliani. Unfiltered. It has a bright and intense ruby red color. Incredible bouquet of red fruits such as blackberry, strawberry, but also hints of wild violet and red rose! Is very juicy and drinkable, on the palate is like to bite a bunch of ripe Dolcetto grapes. It's perfect to pair with light meat dishes or as a light but refreshing aperitivo with salami and charcuterie. Very recommended 👍 — 10 years ago

After 20 min decant this had a powerful attack on the nose, earthy and rich cherry fruit, smoke. The mature vanilla oaky notes have evolved to wet earth tones, including some oak and vanilla bean, espresso. The only thing wrong with this Azelia is that it was served next to the ‘99 Scavino from the same Clos! — 7 years ago
