Weirdly this almost has an initial nose of durum wheat pasta or maybe I’m projecting dinner. Round with ripe apricots and preserved lemons with a mild lingering mineral finish. Amazing for the price . — 4 years ago
A surprising white wine — 8 years ago
The 2021 Polago (60% Sangiovese Grosso, 40% Montepulciano) displays herbs, dusty roses, licorice and wild strawberries. The soothing palate shows silken textures, red fruits, spices and saturating mineral tones. This finishes with a staining of primary concentration and dusty tannins. $16.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, December 2023) — 4 months ago
A mislabeled (by maker Barberani) red, as on back it says a white wine-Elegant Sangiovese Grosso w a bit of Merlot & Cab Sauvignon- which I guess makes it a Super Umbrian of sorts. Black currants & fruits, Firmly medium bodied, slight menthol finish, polished, no rough edges — 6 years ago
Clear macademia nut nose, well hidden alcohol. Gorgeous dried apricot and pear fruit, clarity and length for days. — 8 years ago
Interesting dessert wine purchased in Montepulciano, consumed on balcony in Trequanda. Notable for how light it was, in contrast with most late harvest red wines. — 10 months ago
