Baltimore: Local beer. Oysters. And the harbor. Not a crack rock in sight. — 8 years ago
This a club member only wine sourced from their Two Blondes Vineyard and cellared in 225 liter barrels for 18 months. On the nose; bright cherries, blackberries, strawberries, ball park chewing gum, rose petals, potpourri, gravel and tobacco. The palate is lean but fresh & delicious. Bright cherries, strawberries, potpourri, pepper, light herbs, smoke, tobacco-cigar, dry stones, cedar, round fresh acidity, rich, lush, round long finish. This one is chug-able. Their Cabernet Franc is somewhere between Loire & Bordeaux in style. Photos of their tasting bar, tasting room and owner Greg Karrington's Master Sommelier degree. Perhaps one of the harder feats in life to accomplish. He and his partner Brandon Moss are co-owners and Winemakers. — 9 years ago

Classic Rioja flavors. Leather and tobacco. Would not have picked this out myself, but it came as a recommendation from the owner of the Havana Restaurant in Bar Harbor, ME. — 13 years ago

The 2015 Magician is 100% Riesling from Evergreen Vineyard, located high on the cliffs high above the Columbia River in the middle of Washington State. On the nose; nice tropicals, green apple, pear, lemon, lime, a little white pepper and fresh yellow florals. On the palate, fresh, bright fruits of; green apple, lemon, lime, pineapple, green melon and guava. Spring florals, saline, chalky minerals, nice round acidity and beautiful, slightly oily, round finish. Photos of; their tasting bar, Trey Busch - Co-owner/Winemaker and old Jukebox in their tasting room. Producer/Owner notes...A Pearl Jam concert is one of the reasons Trey ended up in the Pacific NW after seeing them in his first concert ever in Atlanta. In 1992, Trey moved to the Pacific Northwest. He got a job at Nordstrom and worked there for 8 years. Trey was then offered the chance to get into the wine business with the Dunham Cellars. Eric Dunham, the winemaker and owner of Dunham Cellars help shape Trey for his career in winemaking. Trey got hooked on winemaking after his first crush at Dunham Cellars where he stayed until starting "Sleight of Hand Cellars" in 2007. — 9 years ago

For years I've coveted having a store near by carrying this soju, a nutty, thin stepchild made of barley to the typical smooth potato thickness of the more appreciated good kid. This is a lovely bottle to have on hand, and an even more lovely bottle to keep your little secret, before your friends and lovers discover this savant and quaff it up, claiming its discovery as their own, from your bar out to the world — 11 years ago
Fabulous late harvest by Eagle Harbor Wine Co on Bainbridge Island. May be too sweet for some, but hits the spot on a spring or summer evening. #lateharvest #wawines #local — 12 years ago

With Hillstone recently deciding to A). add a $15 corkage fee to their menu and B). take the Smith-Madrone Spring Mountain Cab Sauv. off their wine list (crime of the century in my opinion!), I wondered if there were any good wine finds left on their menu. I was pleased to find this one and enjoyed it thoroughly with my French Dip! Even better was the cute guy seen sitting across the bar from me! I would have gladly shared! Now, just need to curb my addiction to their creamy horseradish and all will be right in the world-well sorta.... — 9 years ago
On the nose, dark sour cherries, dates, burnt figs, grilled meats, burnt ambers, liquid smoke & dark dry florals. The core color is dark with garnet edges. The palate is; slightly sour but mostly sweet dark cherries, stewed plum, cooked strawberries, rhubarb, dates, figs, tomatoes, smoke, grilled meats, brewed coffee, light tarry notes, dry crushed rock powder, volcanic minerals, dark rich earth, dusty tannins, dry dark florals, soft chewy leather, nice round acidity with a decent, soft, elegant finish...50-50 fruit & earth. This is the largest co-op producer in Europe with 50 members. They collectively have 250 acres; which is about 1/6 of the total under vine. Photos of; the town of Barbaresco (their tasting room near the tower), Produttori cellar and their tasting bar. No appointment necessary. Close to Gaja and the town has one of the best one star Michelin lunches as well as the best service we've experienced. Just right of Gaja. Good with our Veal Bolognese. — 9 years ago

First discovered the '11 in Bar Harbor in 2012. The 12 is excellent too. Clean with a smooth citrus scent and taste. Lovely finish. Very light at first but a nice long flavor in the mouth. — 13 years ago
