This wine is a medium-dark purple in the glass. Aromas of brambly cherry are adorned with anise, leather, pepper and clove notes. On the palate there is red fruit and oak spice with a savory coffee angle. The tannins are firm and the acidity is fresh. A lengthy finish leaves the savory aspect strongest. This was good. It needs some time to open up and breathe for the full flavor to bloom. Once those sophisticated notes of berry, basil, and leather begin to tingle, I am reminded that Q3 taxes are overdue and the basement still needs formal radon testing. 2020 vintage. Lean and mean with plenty of palate thrust and a bit of evident craft. Gets down to $15.50 a bottle resto cost on 3 cases. This is from the Château Léoville-Poyferré group. Tough to say "no" at that price. Not the biggest Malbec fan as I usually find it too one-dimensional and drunken Godzilla....er...plodding. 15% ABV. Keeping in the notes tho...04.12.25. — a year ago
