Good pairing with fish, grilled red and white meat and soft cheeses.
“This nice mid-weight wine hails from the Dao region of Portugal. It is a blend of grapes consisting of Alfrocheiro, Tinto-Roriz, and Touriga-National. Each grape is vinified separately, spends 6 months on oak, then it is bottled and cellared. It is defined by black currant, black raspberry, black pepper and a hint of earthiness. An elegant palate of blueberry, dark plum and black pepper spices that stay on the finish. A good match with a pepper-encrusted pork tenderloin on the grill.” Surdyk’s Spring Sale $7.49; regularly $11.99

Vintage 2014 - Dão is a sentimental wine, a youth love. It was powerfull and spicy when I drank it in my youth. This wine is funky frivolous, silky structure, a touch of spices. Milk chocolate in the smell. Made of three grapes: touriga nacional, tinta roriz and alfrocheiro. Great wine to give your day a silver edge. Very good p/q. — 7 years ago
Nose: dark chocolate and cherry, slightly smokey inside of a wood box. Cherry on the tongue but not sweet, extremely well balanced with tannin, fruit and acid. Very smooth. — 8 years ago
Penedo means rock and its on their estate. For such a light white, it's good good structure and complexity — 9 years ago
Vintage 2016 / Dão. 80% Jaen 10% Tinta Roriz 5% Alfrocheiro and even 5% others. Smoooooth! Great weekday wine with fine red summerfruit. Not complicated. Comforting. When you do not want to think about the wine in your glass, but only enjoy it. Bargainprice. — 4 years ago

DAC Tinto is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Jaen, Roriz and Alfrocheiro. Light-bodied, bright and graceful wine with herbaceous notes, green peppercorns and fresh red fruit. — 9 years ago
Aged 9 months in French oak. Blend of Touriga Nacional 40%, Tinta Roriz(Tempranillo) 35%, and Alfrocheiro. This wine is high in tannins, medium in acids and is extremely well balanced. Very long finish that has the representation of red, blue and black fruits. Is an excellent choice for savory dishes. — 9 years ago

Importer notes are more descriptive/educational than my own: "A blend of Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Jaen and Baga from the granite soils of Quinta do Corujão. The Touriga Nacional is foot trodden in lagar, while the Alfrocheiro, Jaen and Baga are fermented in stainless steel tank at low temperatures with little extraction. Aged for 12 months 30 percent new and 70 percent used French oak barrels."
Deep purple/violet color, nose of cassis/ripe plum and wild flowers. On the palate, it is fresh with soft tannins and practically no acidity, with its very velvety texture.
Absolutely stunning pairing with our local, grass fed Angus burgers, nestled into the best Sourdough buns your ever dug your teeth into. (Our local baker from France is a crazy Sourdough guy, he does everything with it; Pizza crusts are other-worldly!) — 7 years ago
Made only in exceptional years, an excellent example of the Touriga Nacional grape, deep red color with black fruit aromas, aged for 12 months in new and used French oak. On the palate blackberry and black cherry flavors with herb notes, and vivid acidity, and oaky notes. The finish is about medium, fine tannins and great structure which will age well for a decade. — 8 years ago
Wine from Gran Canaria's "badlands" -- violets, juicy juice, nice kick at the end. Can do with a slight chill below cellar and even more stellar with food from the grill. — 9 years ago
