Lovely white Bordeaux. The Semillon dominated at the beginning, finishing with lemon from the Sauvignon Blanc. Straightforward and nowhere as complex as the Malartic-Lagraviere, but a delicious bottle of wine. The nose had a great citrus and flower aroma. — 4 years ago
Pop and pour, notes from 45 min open. Lovely, and my best bottle..also my last '12. On the nose: lemon, soft ginger, a touch of honey, some sour apple. On the palate: excellent acidity and density, mirroring the nose. Paired with baked whole branzino, stuffed with onions and herbs...yum. — 5 years ago
Archetypal Bordeaux - old world in style, but where the savory characteristics are well-integrated with common Bordeaux fruit notes. Well-structured and precise, with notes of blackberry, cassis, tobacco, cedar, and vanilla with a long, somewhat chalky finish. — 6 years ago
It seems like the price of this creeps up every year which is vexing. The speciale is rich and intensely vinous and umami, with cutting acidity (non-malo) tart green apple and mandarin orange, spearmint, spice and toast. Still think I prefer the basic cuvée pound for pound — 6 years ago
