The last bottle of my 2012 Vosne Romanée from Alain Hudelot Noëllat and its a wonderful show that it manage to put up. Like a grand dame in its golden years bit with a hell of a spirit its displaying evolving characters of dried strawberries, rose petals, blood orange and menthol that is backed up by a prominent choir of nutmeg, clove, truffles, wet stones and forrest floor. Fresh palate with very present but smooth tannins, an expansive palate as the encore slowly fades out in a very respectful and balanced finish.
Day 2 tasting and its pumped up, more nuanced, defined and dresses up to its teeth in elegance. The last bottle of six will leave its mark for sure. Divine! — 6 years ago

Getting to its prime, but still deeply saturated and concentrated, mineral-forward with graphite, tar, lit tobacco, blackberry compote, violet, black pepper, earth, bacon fat, licorice, and light barnyard. Mouth-filling, with a finish that sticks like a cigar. Medium deep garnet, ruby core with medium light garnet rim . This is quite meaty and deep on the nose , with earthy dark cherry , porcini , sweet blackberry and spiced sous bois . On the palate this is quite severe and serious , darker fruits , ripe blackberry , cherry and hint of blackcurrant, herbal hints. Quite gritty , slightly drying tannins , fresh acidity . Earthy , dusty dark cherry edged finish , ok medium length. Quite ambitious for a village and arguably not ready yet , tannins need a little more time to integrate.
