Touriga Nacional (40%), Touriga Franca (20%), Tinta Roriz (30%), Tinta Barroca (10%). Medium to deep purple. Medium body, medium tannin at most, medium acidity, dry. Some slight funk on the nose, in a very good way. Wet rocks, violets, light baking spices. Better after open for a day. Benchmark Duero for what I can find in the US so far. — a year ago

Toffee and maple aromas stand out in this Colheita. Flavours of biscuit and toasted pecan emerge thereafter. The finish is vaguely like vanilla. — 7 years ago

Burnt brick red/brown on the eye. Medjool dates, dried cherries, cigar box, cedar on the nose. Palette sees more of that delicious cooked dates in butter, sweet caramelized vinegar, tart cherries, medium- acid, long, savory, buttery finish. Delightful port and love the age on this and also like that the alcohol is not overwhelming- it’s integrated into wine. Not dead yet and lots of vigor to be enjoyed! — 8 years ago
Really excellent. Intense yet smooth, the age shows but only in a refined way. Finish goes on forever. Like really good old Bordeaux. — 10 years ago
Pairing it up with some Moroccan lamb with tomato and eggplant. Spicy, black fruits on the palate with some olive and bitter herbal accents. Should be a nice foil for the tagine. — 10 years ago

Thick, chewy, full bodied Douro, heavy taste of black cherry and slightly smoky. — 8 months ago
My 2nd favorite 20 yr behind Grahams. Ramos Pinto is good as well, but seems to have to bottle to bottle variability issues…. Taylor is a great standby at a good price. — 5 years ago

M. Christopher Roebuck

Opaque purple in color, Welch's grape juice, cedar, and anise on the nose. Palate is evolved and settled with muddled blue and blackberry. Definitely nods to Porto with a tawny hint. A bit hot on the alcohol (guessing 14.8 ABV). Wine is dry, medium minus acidity. Full bodied. A bit of bitterness keeps this from presenting a rounded mouth feel. Tannins non existent at this point. Good.
