Sipping Fine Wine

Began as a dream of 2 friends, Ed Selyem & Burt Williams, who pursued weekend winemaking as a hobby in 1979 in a garage in Forestville, CA, and made their first commercial vintage in 1981. Dark Ruby with complex aromas of black and red fruits with earthy herb scents. On the palate tart cherry and strawberry with cacao, earthy spice and notes of smoke. Aged on French Oak, this wine was well balanced, savory, round tannins, lingering nicely ending with some earthy mineral tones. Has room to age. Very nice!

Started off a bit woody but turned into something really nice with some air. I've always like the San Benito county fruit and this is no exception

The go to wine when watching The Dubs. Fruit forward. Young. Doesn't matter. Double OT W.

Light, coastal, with lots of cranberry another under ripe red fruits. A fine effort, and pretty decent value from this producer.

Vertical tasting of William Selyem 2000-2013. The transition vintage. The third worst of the flight. Smells like dirty barrels… Someone mentioned toilet water?? To me musty (not corked though), ladybug-ish, dirt and ash.

Fruit and silky elegance. Still not sure if it’s worth it...

While a little less complex in flavor depth the minerality is really intriguing.

Best Pinot I’ve had so far, but I’m not a Pinot guy. Thought it paired really well with some spicy food.

Strawberry on the nose for us. Great with salmon and a spicy beef noodle stir fry. Vintners notes say to enjoy 2017-2027. Have another bottle, so we'll rate again in another year or so.
