Thibault Liger-Belair
La Corvée de Villy Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Pinot Noir

Delectable - this is the Clos de Vougeot. The first of 5 Grand Crus from Flagey-Echezeaux and Vougeot. Tasted blind once again, my notes said Mid Ruby red with a nice perfume showing whole bunch notes. A good Medium plus palate showing more sweet than savoury.

Bright, but quite ripe, red cherry with almond, nice herbaceous notes and light nutmeg. Reductive notes are there, but not overpowering... so a plus for me. YMMV. A little time to breathe helps.
Thanks to 2015, this is delicious now, but there’s enough grip to hold for a couple years.
So, nowadays we’re paying $48 in Dallas for Hautes-Côtes de Nuits... 2015 is a banner year for everyone apparently.

Opened up a bit on the second night. Showing some gorgeous fruit, taut acid and firm structure. Smoky mineral component is lovely. Hold for another 2-3 years at least.

Young and herbaceous, but with some rich red fruit thanks to 2015. Better on Day 2. Typical for a Hautes-Cotes perhaps... but I can imagine a much greener wine from a lesser vintage.
