Dried violets, lavender, dusty blackberry and sage emerge from the 2020 Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva. It’s silky in texture, cool-toned and crisp. Cherry cola, dried hay, fall leaves, medium tannins, licorice, hint of marmalade and nice acid. Spaghetti and chicken sausage night. 😁

Jan 10th, 2024On the nose, there is sweet cherry to be sure... Cherry brandy... A mossy, earthy note... Savory mushroom... Yup, we're in the woods... But warm... On the palate, some more green emerges perhaps... Still extremely savory though... Buttery pastry... Cherry is incredibly concentrated... Tannin is fluffy... Medium-short finish... Reading the label, I thought this would pair well with our strong-flavored barbeque, but it paired best with our beef and barley soup appetizer... I think if you could pair with something that includes filo pastry, it would do even better...

Sleeper hit wine - definitely likes a good decant. After an hour or so, you notice the #cannonaudisardegna is the more subtle, elegant cousin to Garnacha. Slightly floral, lacy red fruit, earthy laid back fruit and soft tannins on the palate finish.
