Nov 6th, 2017It was awesome to taste New World NAPA alongside old world Napa. This Rudius Knockmore is a beast. Such a gorgeous example of a phenomenal Napa cab. This vintage is by far the absolute best that I have ever had from this Vineyard. Can you say "Houyi" baby!!!!! The news was incredibly distinctive and opulent. You truly and immediately had a sense of lush Brulé/candied Blue fruit. The finish was amazing and it definitely hit the front middle and back palate.
I would buy 20 cases of this tomorrow morning if only they were available!!!!!! I am on winesearcher pro every other day trying to source one or two bottles at a time. It was great to share it with my buddy Shawn whom never met a Rudius that he liked until this evening!!!! 😘❤️❤️😘. This was not the wind of the night but it was the biggest surprise of the night considering the bottle is 1/15th the cost of some others that were enjoyed this evening

No surprise that winemaker Jeff Ames' resume includes Schrader, Tor and Maybach. Big, wide red with aspirations for ginormous. Pure, extracted black fruit and smoky tobacco throughout. Big, gritty tannins from wood and skins. In 10 years this will be absolutely ethereal if it doesn't suck. Literally. Neat, risky things going on at this winery.

Brilliant juice.
Dense and plump on the nose with mint, oak and caramel. Palette is ultra-rich and compact. Finishes lithe and sweet

A gift from Santa Rivard (@Martin G Rivard )! Decanted per his suggestion. Big wine, needs a few more years. Promises to age well. Fun to try vs. our blend from same vineyard. I forget how powerful 100% cab can can be. Will need Santa to send another in a few years to see how it's progressing :) Superb concentration and finish, will round out the rough edges going forward.
