Tonight on the agenda I will be drinking another pinot from Chile. This is the one that A big wine critic rates a 94 and proclaims it rivals the Sea Smoke Pinot Noir's. I am hear to tell you that I have not had the Sea Smoke Pinot's. I will tell you this, I truly like this wine. I had purchased this for around $16.99 and I will be purchasing more. This when I opened it the aromas were wonderful, fresh fruity notes of sweet blueberries, raspberries, floral notes of violets and ripe forest soil. On the palate this is a well rounded and balanced wine. Good fruit of bin cherries and strawberries. There is mushroom notes and hints of vanilla. The tannin are medium smooth with medium acidity and a long finish. A very nice Pinot Noir.

Pleasantly surprised. Anise, mushroom, dark fruit. Pretty delicious when it opens up a bit.

Big ratings from Suckling likely set this up for failure. Nice, rich CA-like and better than some at 1/2 the price. That said still not quite my speed. I won't buy (at ~$17) again...

Our son brought this to dinner for our 35th anniversary at our favorite BYOB last weekend. The wine geek in me says "Chilean Pinot?" Really?
This is what I love about my wine mistress. I'll never master it and my expectations are often turned upside down. I can't believe how good this was. well balanced, with strawberry and cherry notes. A heavier mouthfeel which I liked. But this if you find it, you be pleasantly surprised. I was.
