It has been a little over a year since my last note on the 2018 vintage. Popped and poured, enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2018 pours a pale garnet with transparent core; medium+ viscosity and no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with delicate notes of funky cherry, rose water, tar and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. A touch thinner than some of the “bigger” vintages but no less charming. I’m sort of a sucker for the 2018 vintage in how enjoyable these are to drink in their youth. Drink now through 2038

A bit volatile, nice plush cherry and rose petal, always reliably good

Popped and poured. The 2018 Produttori del Barbaresco classico pours a garnet color with a transparent core; slightly orange around the rim. Medium+ viscosity with very light staining of a tears; no signs of sediment. On the nose, a mix of deep black and red fruits and wow…loads of tar. It’s bone dry, high tannin and medium+ acid. High alcohol. This is a tar bomb right now and the structure is absolutely monumental. The first time I drank the 2018 Nebbiolos from Piemonte, I thought they reminded me a lot of the 2010 vintage when it was young. And when I think about Produttori specifically, this bottle really reminds me of the way the 2010 drank around 5 years after vintage. Only time will tell if these follow a similar trajectory…but I suspect, yes. Drink now but expect a pile of tannin for at least the next 5-10 years and they should drink well for at least 20.

Last night we opened the 2018 Barbaresco Produttori del Barbaresco.

On the nose there is cherry, raspberry, plum, licorice, rose petal, herbs, truffle, pepper and earth.

On the palate are the distinctive notes of cherry, raspberry, plum, licorice, spice, herbs, leather, menthol and earth.

This wine is medium to full bodied medium + acidity with medium + firm rounded mouthcoating grippy tannins that moves easily into a long red fruit dry soil finish. This is a beautiful wine that will provide many years of enjoyment. Stay safe and healthy with a weekend full of love and joy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Lived up to their reputation. Tannins were prominent but fine and integrated and not overbearing due to the fruit intensity. Balanced and long once it breathed for 1+ hr

2023 fall. Very young - quite powerful and primary, even more so than usual at this stage, but I somehow enjoy that
