As a wine I give it a 93, structured, fruit, polished, nice oak flavored. You would expect this from Northstar given unlimited grape sources, makes for a polished wine. BUT I give it an 87 as a Merlot because I want more Merlot in my merlot. Hence 90 for average. Well done.

It's been a while since I've had this wine. Big vanilla-blueberry with autumnal cedar and oak interplay, ashy pepper, black currants and plenty of toast, nose-wise. Gummy blueberry, dried blackberry, cedar, some graphite under a vanilla umbrella. Let it rain fruit droplets! This is round and tasty, though it is not the style I prefer, I respect its effort here. Sometimes you want warm fruit on brioche. #merlots #washingtonstate #northstar #merlotis4lovers

Jesus. It's bigger than I remember. This is delicious if you don't like having enamel on your teeth.

The 2011 is exhibiting nice texture and depth and still has a ways to go. Dark fruits, woody grains, truffles, and a nice mouthfeel showcasing solid maturity.

Lighter style (prefer my Merlot with a little more funk). Soft and approachable. Strong white pepper notes on the nose. Medium length finish. Pretty good value. Not special but definitely serviceable.

Quite good to drink now. Their Merlots are always good to cellar for a bit.
