Meiomi
California Pinot Noir
California, USA

It's been a while since I had this wine. Still very much the same.
Dark ruby/ purple in color.
Strong nose and medium plus in body with medium minus acidity.
Dry to off dry on the palate with mild complexity.
Showing red and black fruits with light wood, chocolates and light vegetables.
It's very drinkable, but doesn't show any typicity. Easy drinking, soft and elegant.
Good by itself and good for parties.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
87 Points.
$17.

Meiomi means "coast" in the language of the native, coastal dwelling Wappo and Yuki tribes. Ruby color with aromas of jammy red fruits and oak with floral notes, from a number of sites in CA, aged in French oak barrels for six months. On the palate flavors of raspberry and strawberry flavors with lightly toasted vanilla oak notes, cacao and black pepper. Vivid acidity, fine tannins, good balance on medium finish ending with earthy character. Good value, drink now.

Jan 2nd, 2025What the heck is this? Certainly not Pinot Noir. Too jammy sweet.

Apr 21st, 2025Bizarrely oversweet pinot noir. Reminds me of why I have a usually unfair knee-jerk rejection of Californian wines.

Oct 5th, 2024Dark in color for a Pinot. Sweeter, than expected, but paired nicely with a strawberry chicken salad. Had oak notes, and possibly some spice.
