Macchiona Emilia Barbera Bonarda

Black cherry, charcoal and black liquorice dominate the nose, strucktured palate with plenty of dry black fruit, elegant but firm tannic structure but some juiciness on the finish. A big but elegant wine with plenty of live ahead of it and very suitable to stewed mead dishes (great value)

Not my style of wine, very row and some unclean note.

Fruit confit, rosehip leather and old wooden plank. Fruit feels faded and leaves me hanging with acidity, tannins and wood.

Last night in Italy 🙌🏽 Licorice, minerality, dark fruits. Very lively.

Amazing. A wine with true terroir and earth. Nose is leather and earth, just perfect. Flavor is complex, starting strong, and ending with a marked astringency. Barbera and Bonarda are not my favorite grapes, but this is definitely the best example I have tasted of this Northern Italian traditional combination.
