Starting to show well, but obviously has miles to go. The vintage works well for the classic Krug style as this is opulent and loaded with rich toasty fruit showing apple, citrus and toffee. Supported by great acidity and has barely started to develop.

Last night’s “Evening With Krug” event, where they officially released their 2006 vintage. Beautiful evening with many different Krug offerings paired with a delicious meal.

The reason for the occasion. Loved trying this next to the ‘04 as they are completely different beasts at the moment. This is strutting Krug’s classic style of round, rich and opulent profile. The warm vintage has this totally open for business now, but obviously only getting better. Bakers yeast, toffee, and lemon pastry aromatics. Very fresh and inviting on the palate revealing golden caramel dipped apples, honeysuckle and nougat. Delicious.

Surprisingly open and approachable. The sweetness a lot of 2006’s with pretty floral notes (a hint of honeysuckle?). Not a powerful nose- quite light and precise. Very settled and balanced on the palate. Flinty and balanced with a faint hint of sandalwood. Deceptively bright and open. I suspect this has a good journey ahead if it- great balance and fine acidity

2006 Krug ‘Brut’ Champagne- The 2006 Krug ‘Brut’ Champagne is a resounding success from this warm vintage in Champagne. Both high toned and rich aromatically, kumquat purée with shades of nutmeg infused Challah bread and baked Bosc pear all take their shape in the glass. The rich, almost oily, texture delightfully coats the mid-palate. Ripe white grapefruit, sourdough bread and ginger flavors all sing in harmony on this expressive palate. As good as the texture is, the highly gratifying, minute-long finish, completes this scintillating new wine. While this beautiful vintage Champagne is showing marvelously in its youth, it will have an exceedingly long life in the cellar. Drink 2019-2035- 97

Very big but extremely muscular, certainly not flamboyant. Yeast and chalk reverberate both on the nose and in the mouth. Only time is missing.
