First vintage since 2008 and wow this is a stunner. Nose is so classic and so old school. Just stunning, dizzying complexity with earth, spice and dead dry leaves. Really floral and just mesmerizing levels of spice. Incredible. Nebbiolo - the platonic ideal. So deep, so layered and the fragrance intensely is like squeezing a flower non stop. Just insane. 9.7 nose. Cannot stop smelling this wine. Rich, concentrated and so deep. Man this gets to every nook and cranny of the palate and turns sweet way on the back of the finish and just stays there. Velvety and ripe tannins. Huge structure suggests 25+ years ahead of this. As this airs the finish gets more and more deep, refined and sweet. Simply a stunning bottle of Gattinara.

Star anise and five spice hints, plus fresh mushrooms, violets and volatile floral notes on the palate. And then tertiary qualities that haunt, including a musty old book quality that’s similar to fine aged Bordeaux.
