Big bold beautiful- old school Napa classic - 2 hour decant then BOOM - started a little harsh with a string mineral aftertaste but it is still young - tannins are really polished now - this baby brings with it a great deal of satisfaction with an abundance of taste and great deep palette

1 person found it helpfulAug 10th, 2020Decanted for a hour - Heitz is not my favorite but each time I try it it grows on me - I know Parker is not a fan but seriously for the money this is good - the 2010 is bold but needs air - the fruit is tasty but smell is a little weak - Parker one comment the elevated acidity is right on so give it air - so smiling a little but that is better than a frown

Heitz - the poster-child of consistency. A wonderful example of a restrained cabernet. Delicate oak supported by cinnamon, dark fruit and black olives.
On the palette, the wine is precise and perfectly weighted. Close your eyes and you would swear it was French. Tannins frame the wine perfectly. This has many years ahead of it. Good value for the quality.

Tonight I am having the 2012 Heitz Cabernet Sauvignon on the nose I am getting notes of boysenberry, blackberry, cassis and some mont. On the palate there is blackberry, licorice, currant, and a touch of tobacco. This has a Medium acidity and medium + tannins with a long finish. Drinkable now.
