Casis, dark berry fruit, tobacco, prevalent lasting but round tannin. Stellar year, stellar producer, stellar wine.

Second time in a row the ‘07 Maiden has just gone nowhere for me. No punch or lift at all, muddled fruit and lots of heavy tannin.

This was solid but didn’t really go anywhere great and I wanted it to so bad. Cherry tobacco, blackberry and cedar. This bottle and the 3 others I brought to Wisconsin from Chicago all endured a ride in a wine suitcase in the back of a truck in the 15 degree Midwest winter. 3 of the bottles—Voerzio, Beringer and Harlan Maiden—all performed below expectations. The PM Les Pavots, however, was excellent. While I’ve never opened a Voerzio that young I’ve had consistently better experiences with the same vintages of the Beringer reserve and Maiden. I’m wondering if you cold weather dwellers think the cold transport played some role in what happened here.

2nd of the 3 pack. First bottle was opened in 2012, which was dark, and spice driven. Not today, opened with pure, extremely concentrated fruit and little spice. 15 minutes later the wine went "quiet"...and that's being nice. Don't get it, almost like it ate a Valium. Plan to open the 3rd in 2022.

One of the best wines I have drank. Awesome California Cab. Big wine, great structure with a softness.

I haven’t been this disappointed with a wine in a long time. Tastes totally stewed. Not undrinkable, but nowhere close to the enjoyment this wine should have given us tonight as a pairing with the Snake River Farms American Waygu filet mignon I prepared for us for dinner. I bought this as a member of the Harlan Estate mailing list upon release and it has been in my cellar at 56 F upon receipt. We had another bottle of this several years ago and my notes were very positive, so I doubt this got cooked in transit becase I would assume all of the bottles would have suffered the same fate. Just incredibly disappointing.
