Nose starts out a bit funky. Some reduction but gorgeous dark berry fruit is lurking underneath. The funk has already blown off. Almost. Hint of barnyard. Gorgeous dark berry fruit. Unreal clarity. So much granite as the name implies. Palate is gorgeous. Grippy and granitic with ripe and sweet tannins and oodles of blackberry fruit. Really well put together. Lovely sweetness but also has that 18 youthfulness and I think better in 5 years. What granite though. What minerality. Well made but young. Think 19’s are drinking better now than 18’s.

9.3 to 9.4 overnight. Such finesse and elegance. Very impressive

Expressive nose of dark fruit and smoke. Medium bodied, with raspberry, violets, a hint of blood, blackberries and chocolate. Fresh acidity and good length.

Nose has wonderful pure blackberry fruit and terrific granitic stank. Loads of smoke, game and herbs. Smells substantial. Floral and raspberry pastille with some air. Very very serious wine. Palate is crazy fresh with crazy granitic energy. Wow that is one mineral St. Joseph. Love it. Palate has insane complexity, energy and purity. Big structure. This is awfully good. Finishes on a complex peppery note. This is like 80% old school as it comes but with a hint of 20% traditionally polished style. I love how classic this is but also how the hard edges of old school are smoothed over. Incredible granitic expression as the name of the wine suggests. Fruit is more of the red and blue kind on the palate and it had a boundless coiled energy that is waiting to release something. I’ll be back.

It’s getting more round on the palate and velvety without sacrificing any of its energy. What a finish and a mid palate one can get lost in. Really really long. 9.3 to 9.4. Oh man it gets crazy sappy.

Picks up terrific finesse at 2 hour mark or so. Really classy wine.

Excellent! Very young so no rush to drink. Opened 30 minutes prior to drinking. Evolving dark.fruit aromas. Grilled Meat, dark fruit, and earthy notes. Well balanced. Definitely recommend.
