The wines in Mendoza have rapidly evolved over the last 15 years. One winemaker told us that they put the previous 100 year evolution into a 10 year revolution with new vineyard management techniques and winemaking methods. New expressions of Malbec and new varieties. El Enemigo is a winery that is an example of the latter. They are focusing on single vineyard expressions with Cab Franc. This particular one was a bit more single note than I remembered tasting at the winery. Maybe the 11 years of age started to show with the fruit being a little less expressive. Still good though. Soft, fine grained tannins, a little spice on the background lifting the red/dark red fruit.
