Decanted for a few hours, then taken to Saison in SF. Tawny color with lite rims, mostly translucent. Deep powerful nose, with notes of red fruit, smoked meat, dry brush, Asian spice, pepper, dark moist soil and a little menthol. Rich, silky and intense in the mouth. Long finish. Great juice.

Tasted blind... we're served three glasses from three brown bagged bottles. They all are similar in color: dark reddish tawny. This has black fruit in the nose, along with some prominent wood, some spice, some earthiness, slate stone and dark earth. More masculine than the other two glasses, but also becomes more floral over time. More inky and dense than the other two. We've figured out these are 1990 La La's, so which is this? I guess La Landonne, which it is. This bounced around during the evening from being the best of the three to a step below the other two. I liked the Mouline and Turque a little more tonight but I'm splitting hairs as this was superb and the ranking is more about preference than quality.

Dark brownish red. Mostly translucent. Masculine nose. Notes of black cherry, slate stone, iron, menthol, cranberries, spice and old attic wood. Rich and voluptuous in the mouth. Sweet fruit that dries a bit with more air. Succulent long finish.

Dark reddish tawny color, almost opaque with amber rims. Knockout nose. Notes of ripe cherry, sweet cranberries, iron and granite, some menthol and a little black pepper. Perfectly balanced in the mouth. There is a great core of fruit the hangs around in a long finish. Tannins integrated but nice structure remains. Awesome juice that with hours of air got better and better.

The 1990 La la is An absolutely EPIC wine. Incredibly expressive nose of black fruits, figs & grilled meats. voluptuous palate with silky tannins & long finish. Surprisingly youthful this wine has many more great years ahead!

This was best flight tonight. Tough to pick a winner as all the wines were great. Groups favorite was the 90 followed by the 91 which was more structured but less complex than the 90.

This wine is silky, smooth complex and has very long aftertaste. A great vintage in the hand of a strong producers can produce fireworks and this is a great example

1990... une rareté qui a été à la hauteur. Très grand vin!

Big, ripe, oaky, muddled fruit. Very generous of the person who brought it, but not my cup of tea.
