Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC)
Échézeaux Pinot Noir
This bottle was a bit rattled and drinking inconsistant. My first pour was singing and delicious with textured fruit and a very specific bacon fat lingering in the background which was very seductive . But others had pours that were closed and stemmy tasting. My second pour was much cloudier and closed off from those previous sensations. Maybe I got the right middle pour that happened to reach out to me.

Apr 9th, 2017Boom. Crazy evolution in the glass. Closed to open and complex. Still quite a bit of tannin Nice fruit and a delightful long finish. What a delight. Super long finish.

Oct 13th, 2019A big and intense nose. Broad, quite ripe blue fruit. A sweetness, and lovely cherry notes. A good midpalate with dark fruit. Lacks a little in terms of complexity and there’s a blockiness/ austerity to the finish that doesn’t quite live up to the nose, but some elements of this are fantastic.
