Lithe and flavorful. Nose has smoky granite, dried violets, dark berries. So nice. Broad and intense in the mouth, but in a lighter weight style. Turns clingy and savory in the long finish. Great balance. Love this. In a great spot right now.

Feb 22nd, 2020A lean but intense wine. Medium volume nose has lots of granite and dried beef. In the mouth it’s intensely clingy and savory, with a slight bitterness. Some very nice blackberry skin fruit too. Finishes long, with lots of fine-grained tannins coating the mouth. Nice balance. Very good value.

Loving 2015's. St. Joseph has so much goodness to offer. Nose is quiet yet deep at the same time. Black fruits and floral. Some granite lurking. Palate is massive. Showing much younger than the Barge from the other night. Dark, brooding and very closed. This will need a few hours. This is super tight right now. It is all there and so clean and such purity. Great balance and sap. What a great bottle. Can't wait to taste In a few hours.

Jul 26th, 2017Nose is outrageous. So meaty. Wow. Smoked meats. Raw meat. Beef blood. Smells like an abbatoir. Some granite, some blackberry fruit as well. Insanely perfumed. Gorgeous spice and also ham hock. Palate is dark, meaty with loads of smoked meat, blackberries and tons of granite. Very very pure and delicious sweet fruit but that smokey gamey character comes through like nothing else. So juicy with terrific acidity and freshness. So so pure and clean. Balanced and very compact. Very complex. Terrific concentration and over the top freshnes. Truly a great version of this and aging so well. No rush but maybe in 3-4 years check in again.
