Saint Joseph Marsanne - Roussanne Blend 2022

9.4

This is the same wine just a new name. Gorgeous nose of gras, old dusty books, plantains, some spice and fresh woodshop dust Also some interesting umami notes. Wet earth as well. Just so complex and inviting. I love this wine. Wow what a palate. Rich and electric with a wonderful juxtaposition between richness and granitic freshness. Awesome texture and length. Really classy and wonderful wine. Terrific Marsanne minerals coming through now and awesome depth and concentration but still very nimble on the finish. — 7 days ago

Glorious St. Joseph blanc with structure and depth to go the long haul. Beautifully put together right now, impressive phenolic/glycerol/acid balance that will carry on for years. — 9 months ago

Côte Sainte Épine Syrah 2017

Wow. Quite intense. Peppery, forest fruit spicy. Violet, fennel and black currant. Very sweet but also herbal, garrigue, and with pleasant bitterness; spicy, with a long finish. Really good stuff. Super concentrated. — 3 years ago

@Lyle Fass definitely. But I’m still in the sampling phase of my Fass Selections journey, so throwing caution to the wind.

I will say though, it’s massive and time will be good, but this is not closed at all. Really fragrant and complex.

Big deep grapey nose. Tons of granite and blackberry but also red berries as well. A very evocative and encompassing nose. Some pepper, spice and herbs as well. Complex and inviting. Palate is soft and structured with an intense pepperiness. Supple and melty with gorgeous red fruits and also blackberry. Very pure and perfectly balanced with really nice tannins. Excellent wine. — 9 months ago

Côte Sainte-Epine by Mikael Desestret St. Joseph Syrah 2017

Beautiful inky dark Syrah. Ready to go after a couple hour decant. And a nice pairing with roast chicken thighs with lemon and green olives. Quite seamless on the palate with a bit of structure. Maybe one smidge less acid than I hoped for at the end to make it sing - but still very nice. — 3 years ago

Wow. This has aged beautifully.

Nose : apricot skin.

Palate : apricots. A hint of unctuous ness. Really delicious. Nectar. Kiss of honey.

Nose is moderately intense blackberry and a kiss of rubber and black pepper. As this opens lilacs and violets.

Palate is silky blackberry. Internal aromatics are violets and blackberry flowers.

This is always such a great value every year. So well made. Such great typicity. So well made. Best value in the rhone. Ez.

A $50 wine for $25.

Sainte Agathe Syrah 2020

Basket of fresh black and red fruits, smoky notes, roasted, charcoal, pepper, violet. The nose suggests a little residual sugar, except it will turn out to be very dry in the mouth. Supple and beautiful creaminess, the texture in the mouth is beautiful. Côte-Rôtie style. Superb for its price.
