Celebrating my wife’s 31st birthday with some of her favorite things: friends, pizza, and wine.
Been a while since I’ve had anything from H-M. I enjoyed this selection and thought it drank nicely. Brambly dark fruits, medium body, decent complexity.

NOSE: fur-bearing critter … earth, iron … cacao … a bit of cassis. Savoury. Pine and forest.
TASTE: iron, blackberry, cassis, MEATY, orange chocolate, leaves…good old fashioned dirt. Great deal. Could certainly age a while. 92.
NOTE: I tasted this a year ago (I forgot!) and notes were different. Unsure if it’s me, the bottle, or the extra year of age. Anyway, I liked it both times!

Poured through an aerator and sat for 15 minutes…
NOSE: strong, clear cassis. Meat. Pine, forest. Very mild chocolate and a little ash - and some raisin - but the cassis dominates.
Taste: medium weight, elegant, fruity bordeaux, with enough tannin to balance it perfectly - as on the nose, cassis and dark berry flavors dominate, but with a good herbal backbone. Simpler than I’d hoped, but just so very well made it doesn’t matter. Would love to taste this in a few years. 92.

Fairly axidic full bodied qine qith hint of floral maybe rose or some sweet smelling flower and licorice light tannins. Dark cherry colour.
