Good god! An angel pissed on my tongue tonight...
No signs of aging. Fruit-forward, tannic and bold. Intellectual and very sophisticated. Nice mature black cherries sync up with light tobacco, and spice box notes. Exemplary effort, with another 15 - 20 years of runway.

First Growth Friday with the home grown Padres. Slow to emerge but was keep ascending as the evening progressed. Warm blackberry, graphite, sweet cedar and cocoa. Shows pedigree for sure but lacks the heft and penetration of better vintages.

There isn't enough space in Delectable to fully express my thoughts about 1999 Haut-Brion. What can be said about this monumental first growth? Tasted over 90 minutes, it evolved slowly with cascading notes of black currant, blueberry, perfumy violets and forest floor. Fresh and pure on the palate, with silky tannins, superb balance and a lengthy, seductive finish interlaced with subtle minerality and flavors of cedar and spice. A truly great wine in every sense. about Haut-Brion.

Still a lot of baby fat but focus and quality is undeniable.

The 99 Haut Brion is an elegant, gorgeous, sexy wine. Super soft blackberries, cream raspberries, red fruits intermix through the long finish, violet florals, velvety tannins, silky lead pencil shavings, gravely pebbles and soft black earth leads to a long blue fruit elegant sexy finish.

Tobacco, black currant, roasted coffee bean, anise, wet earth, dried herbs, graphite, smoke. Some Brett, but under control and behind the fruit and mineral elements.

Too young but still a beautiful wine. Shows great concentration and depth and will develop nicely over 25 years.
