The night before last we open the 2001 Château du Tertre Margaux Bordeaux blend. This blend is 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot.

On the nose are notes of fruit although faint of bkack cherry, blackberry, brambles, licorice, cigar box, roses, oak, woody notes, forest floor and earthy notes

On the palate are notes of black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black pepper, worn leather, cigar tobacco, forest floor and earth.

This wine is medium to full bodied smooth velvety mouthfeel medium acidity and medium to medium+ powdery resolved tannins that still has a long dark earthy worn leather finish. I hope everyone is doing well going into the weekend. Please enjoy yourselves with family and friends. Please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Lead, black currant, mid weight body, spicy, with a blocky, Margaux structure. Juicy finish. Fine bottle. A bit bitter on the finish.

Saturday night and it is time for a 5th Growth Bordeaux the 2001 Chateau DuTertre. This Chateau is one of the oldest on the Left Bank. A very nice well balanced wine at 17 years of age.

On the nose there is good dark fruit black cherry, blackberry, black currant, black pepper, licorice, violets and dark rich earth.

The palate the dark fruit continues with good black cherry, blackberry, black currant, black pepper, the herbal notes come through real nice, a bit of leather, and rich tilled soil.

The wine is medium to full bodied with medium acidity and medium smooth tannins that lead into a long dark fruit finish. An enjoyable Bordeaux that still has another 5 to 10 years ahead of it. Continued enjoying your weekend and please be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

A seductive 2001 Château Du Tertre is presented in a medium garnet color along with an alluring bouquet of dried figs and cherries, soy sauce, dried rose pedals, forest floor, cedar and a faint note of chocolate. With a smooth, almost silky texture, fine-grained tannins, medium body and a long finish, this beautiful Margaux combines power and finesse. Drink now.

Dense red color. The nose however is brightly open and expressive, exuberant I’m tempted to say. Bursting aromas of herbs combine with vibrant raspberry jam in a dancing frenzy, delighting the nose. Very soft and refined palate, with some density but an outstanding finesse to the feel. This 2001 shines brighter than many, utter finesse and elegance, great and ready to drink, but an hour decanting would be my suggestions; it only gets better with time.

Wet leaves, coffee bean, toast on nose, elegant red fruit driven palate. Fine. Delicious. Good match for mushroom cobbler.
