Stands out in a crowed sea of Bordeaux. Comes across a bit fleshy, currant preserves, smoked blackberry and hot licorice fill the nose. Earthy and sappy core, meats and mushroom fill the palate. Velvety tannins hold well making for a spiced finish.

Red berry and chocolate. Not too tannic, and a surprising acidity for a merlot. I'd drink this vintage now. Doesn't seem likely to have too much by way of legs.

Drinking the 2009 in 2016 and certainly seems to be in the window. Could probably have benefitted from being a little warmer (it was a cold day but hearing not yet on) and more time to breathe but this was a quaffable mid-bodied red with an enjoyable dark cherry and coffee / chocolate flavour though of limited complexity.
