Clos Vougeot Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru Pinot Noir

The pick of this group of 4. Rich and expressive with ripe cherry notes. 100% whole bunch 40% new oak. Very impressive. de Vougeot in the right hands is pretty amazing.

2002 is ripping! Easily the best Vougeot I've ever had. Wow

👁 Lovely deep garnet
👃 Barnyardy (especially when just opened), earthy, some hints of black fruits (but not much)
👅 Austere, intense, serious. Earthy, mushroom, spicy black pepper. Medium plus body. Medium plus acidity. Long finish.
✍️️ It's a privilege to taste such a complex and concentrated wine. Never thought Pinot can look or taste like this.

Round table tasting: Powerful wine. Very tight still. Mineral and spice along with red berries. This needs time to unfold.

I love this wine. Red cherries, fine tannin and the balance is spot on.

Beautiful perfume blackish red spicy a bit sous bois. Very alluring . If only it had the same palate presence. Great effort for the vintage
