Château Cos d'Estournel
Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend

One of the better older Cos that I’ve tried. Not a moment too soon though. Almost all secondary at this point although a wisp of black currant emerged with some air. But at this point it’s graphite, leather and earth tones predominating. Delightfully old school

Banging! Bright acidity, nice cedar and red currant notes, lively.

An ex chateau bottle and it’s superb. Dark red fruit, meaty with tobacco. On the palate, sour cherry, deep brooding gnarly fruit. Very developed- still dense and pure.

I liked this more than others. Very muted bouquet and a bit one note on entry but with air it started to open and reveal dark cherry, tobacco and a distinct gravel profile.

1985- star of the night. Gravelly, sanguin, wet earth, dried black fruits. Solidly built and gorgeous

I thought this was in a very good spot, still has a lot of fruit with tobacco, bay leaf, cedar and round rich cherry predominating. Very inviting fresh violet nose. Lots of round edges and a medium long finish. My RWOTN.
