Jumilla Monastrell

Another grape I never tried before. Monastrell. Nice smooth wine, though it lacks a bit of depth and structure.

Dark fruit, dark chocolate, cherry, lower tannins. Paired well with the burger.

Fruit forward with a spicy finish and a little mouth feel. Not chewy enough, but I like it

Got to enjoy a great new wine while socially distancing trick or treating. . . No wine for you kiddies.

Confused, compromised modern styled wine.

Deep purple color w/ ruby rim & thin watery edge. Clean nose w/ aromas of leather, black plums, licorice, and red currant. Medium acids. High tannins. Flavors were like the nose, although the mid palate was surprisingly smooth. Explosive finish with a very good complexity of dark & red fruits, along with some spice and charred wood. At $13.99 (Texas), I felt I found a bargain.

Taste the limestone and dry chalk that remains, but its not dusty like a dry California wine. Very good!
